LSU Coronavirus Updates & Information
Louisiana has been approved for the new Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (P-EBT)
program. This program will provide extra help buying groceries for the families who
normally receive free and reduced-price meals at school. This includes all families
attending a Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) school. To receive these benefits,
families must complete an application by going .
Effective 11/8/21 - Pick-up & Drop-off
The Louisiana Department of Education and the Office of Public Health are now allowing
parents back in child care facilities. Beginning Monday, November 8, 2021 we will
allow drop off and pick up at the playground doors for all classrooms. This will allow
families access to their child's classroom, with minimal interaction with children
and families from other classrooms. We ask that in alignment with LSU policy that
masks are worn when entering your child's classroom.
The gates to the playground will be open in the mornings from 7:15-9:00am and in the
afternoons from 3:45-5:15pm. If you arrive outside of these times, please come to
the lobby door.
TIKES Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation
Need support caring for young children during the COVID-19 pandemic?
TIKES Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation is providing mental health consultation (MHC) services via telephone or a telehealth web-based platform during the COVID- 19 pandemic.
What is Mental Health Consultation (MHC)?
Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation (ECMHC) is an intervention that teams a mental health professional with early childhood professionals to improve the social, emotional and behavioral health of young children in early learning settings.
Who Can Request a TeleMHC Call?
Any individual associated with a Type I, II, or III child care center, family child care (FCC) providers, or child care respite sites. Individuals include teachers, directors, owners, parents or others caring for young children during the COVID-19 pandemic.
They are able to assist individuals with issues related to:
- Child behavior and social-emotional concerns
- Supporting children during the COVID-19 pandemic
- Self-care
- Stress and coping
- Director, Teacher, and Parent Concerns
- Other concerns as needed

LSU Wastewater Testing
Wastewater based testing is performed on sewage leaving all LSU residence halls, on-campus
apartments, and Greek residences as a surveillance technique to support medical testing.
This surveillance method is being performed at universities across the United States
to identify potential outbreaks without the limitations of individual testing. Status
Levels will be updated on Thursdays.
COVID-19 vaccinations are available to children ages 6 months and up as of June 21, 2022.
The and recommend all children ages 6 months and up are now eligible for vaccination against COVID-19. Based on the rigorous scientific review of the latest data by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Louisiana Department of Health recommends that all children 6 months old and above receive the COVID-19 vaccine to protect themselves and their families.
